модификация школьной программы и юридическое требование гордиться историей своей страны в Польше и США – это печальный опыт, который призывает нас к бдительности. В Польше, как и в США, на переднем крае такой борьбы оказываются библиотекари. В основе любого подавления истории лежит страх перед неприятными фактами. Людям кажется, что истина – это враг. Но как нам развиваться, если мы не будем признавать ошибки и учиться жить вместе? Подобный подход тормозит развитие личности и общества в целом. Мы должны безоговорочно поддерживать научную свободу, культурные обмены и честное отражение истории в музеях и общественном дискурсе.
